Robbie Gallier’s Gallant Fight

KARTING star, Robbie Gallier overcame illness to excel in the first round of the British Karting Championships over the Easter weekend, held at Glan-y-Gors in North Wales.

There were all the dramas you could imagine leading up to the weekend as Julien, Robbie’s father, was taken very ill during the previous weekend. Julien puts in a lot of work prior to the race weekends and was not able to do so as it was discovered he was and is still is suffering with E-Coli. Julien would not miss the weekend and still made it along to support Robbie. Thankfully he is on the mend now.
As Robbie is being run by Prokart Engineering it did not effect the preparation for the weekend as far as the Kart was concerned as Jeff Johnson did a great job on Friday and over the weekend getting the kart set up.
Then on Saturday evening Robbie, had not been feeling to good, took a turn for the worst and had a very bad night with a developing throat infection and heavy cold coming out, so much so Julien was not sure he would even race on Sunday.
However there was nothing that was going to stop Robbie and he was determined to race and race he did.
Robbie showed he could mix it with the very best in his class, and without the distractions he feels he can improve on the first round result.
It was a big learning curve for the team and we were glad to have the experience of Jeff Johnson of Prokart Eng to guide us through, now we know what to expect in future rounds.
After the first round Robbie is now 4th in the Championship and 1st Rookie. A great achievement, which would not have been possible without the support of all his sponsors and team.
The Super One British Championship is being televised on Motors TV channel this week between 7 and 9pm and will be repeated 5 or 6 times.
