Minehead to rely on the 'old guard'

MINEHEAD Barbarians will have to rely on last season's first team squad for success in Somerset Premier this coming season.

"Obviously, you like to see new faces at training but so far we haven't seen any," said coach Andy Stevens. "However, if we can avoid injuries, we should give a good acount of ourselves. "I've been happy with the numbers at training. And fortunately we've not picked up any injuries." The Babas are adopting a cautious approach in their build-up to the new season. They have an inter-club game on Thursday, August 19, which is likely to take the form of three 20-minute sessions. The following week they will play their only pre-season warm-up game - at home to Somerset One neighbours Wiveliscombe. Minehead's opening Somerset Premier game is at home to Midsomer Norton on Saturday, September 4.
