Walker-Blair signs a dual registration with Exeter

TAUNTON'S powerful winger Charlie Walker-Blair has signed a dual registration with Exeter.

Walker-Blair has been under-going full-time training with the Devon club for the past month. "We've already noticed the difference in his physique," said Taunton's director of rugby Lee Waddon today (July 28). "We expect Charlie to be with us on Saturdays and to be released for training at Taunton on Thursdays. "However, we would not be surprised to see him making the first team squad at Exeter by Christmas. "He is a big lad and can dip below 11 seconds for the 100 metres. "We've no problems with Charlie signing for Exeter," added Waddon. "It was always the intention that we would help him to play at the highest level possible. It shows, too, that players don't have to leave Taunton to be able to better themselves." Walker-Blair has now fully recovered from damaging knee ligaments in the Somerset Cup final against Weston super Mare towards the end of last season. There were fears that he might be sidelined throughout the summer but he has made a much quicker recovery than at least first thought. Taunton will be carrying out a "light training session" at Cullompton tomorrow week (August 5) and may be involved in a short game with the Devon club towards the end of the evening.
