The 33-year-old Blythe, who has been with Exeter for eight seasons and played more than 200 Championship games, will be joining Taunton as a strength and conditioning coach, as well as a player.
It also means Taunton will have two hookers in their first team squad, the other being Jon Gatford, a regular in last season's National Three SW-winning side.
"Sam's signing completes the jigsaw," said Taunton's director of rugby Lee Waddon last night (Mon).
"We believe we now have a very strong squad, much stronger than last season." Meanwhile, Weston super Mare second row George Sparks has decided against joining Taunton despite signing for the new National Two South side earlier this summer.
Sparks feels he cannot devote enough time to travelling and training and plans to remain at Weston.
