Chipley Park's day of racing a success

LAST Sunday's annual point-to-point meeting at Chipley Park, near Wellington, went "very, very well," said secretary of 20 years Keith Granger.

"Obviously we feared the worst with so much rain earlier in the week," he added. "There were tight finishes, which is always an indication that the course is in good shape.
"We had seven races with about 12 horses in each. People hung around for most of the day, which is not always the case if the weather is dull.
"We had no problems and we will be staging next year's meeting at about the same time - the last Sunday in January."
The event, organised by Tiverton Foxhounds, attracted 3,000 racegoers.
