Time running out to enter Wellington Ten!

ATHLETES have just over one more week before entries close for The Wellington Ten, the big road race which this year takes place on Sunday, July 11.

The new venue of the Wellington Rugby Club has proved to be a real success, with good facilities and an excellent location for the finish directly in front of the bar! The organisers try to make the day much more than just a road race by offering something for all the family. Everyone is welcome to attend to cheer on the runners or just to enjoy the music and food. As with last year the race will start and finish for most to the sounds of "Skin Tight Samba Band." The day offers a choice of distances, 10 kilometres or 10 miles, and both events will follow exactly the same routes as last year, so regular runners will have the opportunity to check their times year on year. Both distances are also classed as challenging, so you won't get bored running on endless flat roads! Last year's event raised over £9,000 for local charity The Albemarle Centre and the same charity will be the recipient of this year's run, so in addition to improving their fitness levels, runners can enjoy that feel-good factor of gving something to people less fortunate than themselves. Race organiser Steve Johnson said: "Our event continues to grow year on year and all of the feedback from last year was positive, so we will continue with the same format and the same courses again this year. Entry forms are available from all the local gyms, sports outlets and The Albemarle Centre. They can also be downloaded from the website www.thewellingtonten.co.uk where runners can enter on-line.
