Batting first the hosts were bowled out for 251 off 54 overs, James Hayman taking 4 for 73, Adam Dibble 4 for 79 and Michael Munday 2 for 34.
In reply Somerset scored 376, Robin Lett making 53, Chris Jones 69, Craig Meschede 52, Devon Conway 82 and Calum Haggett an unbeaten 34 and batting for a seconmd time Gloucestershire had reached 194 for 7.
On the final morning Gloucestershire eventually reached 273 all out, Munday taking 4 for 50 and David Stiff 3 for 77, leaving Somerset needing 149 for victory.
Chasing down their total Somerset were all out for 143, with Haggett top scoring with 41, Robin Lett making 24 and Stiff 22.
