Somerset enjoy successful opening day against Notts |  | |
| SOMERSET had reached 423 for 6 by the close of play on the opening day of their championship match against Notts at the County Ground. | However after losing Marcus Trescothick to the first ball of the day things didnt look too promising but they recovered to 126 for 3 by lunch. However the main feature of the day was a 210 run fifth wicket between James Hildreth who scored 142, his fourth championship century of the season which came off 187 balls and included 18 fours and Jos Buttler who hit 88. By the close Craig Kieswetter was 43 not out while Pete Trego was unbeaten on 36 adding 76 together so far and enabling the Cidermen to take maximum batting points from their innings. | | |
