Nick Compton was out for 12 with the total on 124 at which point Zander de Bruyn was joined by James Hildreth who together flayed the Surrey attack for 145 off 19 overs before Hildreth was out for 68, which came off 55 balls and included 8 fours.
De Bruyn remained until had had helped to move the total onto 279 before departing for 89, which he scored off 78 balls and which included seven 4s and two 6s.
The Cidermen eventually reached 303 for 5 by which time Pete Trego was unbeaten on 19 while Jos Buttler was 10 not out.
Chasing a daunting total the hosts lost Rory Hamilton-Brown on 5- another victim for Alfonso Thomas.

In spite of a fighting 53 from Matthew Spriegel and 31 from Chris Tremlett, who were both dismissed by Mark Turner, the Surrey Lions were eventually all out for 209 in 35.1 overs.
Kartik was the pick of the Somerset bowlers with 3 for 40 off his 8 overs while there were two apiece for Turner, Trego and De Bruyn.
