Uphill Castle stay well clear in Somerset Division

 

TOP of the table Uphill Castle kept their hopes of promotion well on track when they beat their visitors Cheddar by 6 wickets.

Batting first Cheddar scored 210 for 4, Mike Simms top scoring with 79 and Andy Veal making 46, while for the hosts, skipper Sam Trego took 1 for 41 from his 13 overs of off spin. In reply Uphill reached 211 for 4 in 39 overs, thanks largely to an unbeaten fifth wicket partnership of 130 between Rob Tasker who made 86 not out and John Davidson who ended on 65 not out. Second placed Ilton hosted Street at their Childs Clark ground where batting first the visitors were all out for 293. In reply Ilton were dismissed for 232, Nat Price making 92 and James Holliday 78, while the pick of the Street bowlers was M.Hicks with 6 for 70. Third placed Wembdon entertained bottom of the table North Perrott and batting first at their Clifton Street Ground the hosts made 324 for 6, with Rob Dickens who batted at number five making a career best unbeaten 141 off just 72 balls, which included 23 fours and two 6s, while opener Harry Lee made 54. In reply North Perrott were 180 all out in 41.5 overs of which Nick Taylor made 75. For Wembdon Alex Bailey ended with 4 for 23 off 13 overs, John Brockerll 3 for 25 off 10 and Dan Bingham 2 for 30 off 7.5. Butleigh recorded their fifth victory of the season when they played next to bottom of the table Frome at Butleigh Court, but the visitors innings certainly had a sting in the tail! After being asked to bat first Butleigh posted 232 for 4, with the main contributors being Dave Trevis with 88 and Mark Agutter who made 76, while M. Prince picked up 3 for 44. In reply Frome were bowled out for 187, of which Neil Dredge, batting at number eight blasted 95 off just 34 balls which included 11 sixes. Butleigh’s main wicket taker was paceman Josh Barclay who ended with 5 for 19.
