Snooker World Champ drops
in for a Knock!
Snooker World Champion Shaun Murphy made a surprise
visit at The Mendip Golf Club last week when he signed in for an
early morning round on Sunday. The 6 handicapper really enjoyed
the course and managed to score 30 points which we reassured him
was very good seeing as he hadn't played it before!
The Ladies Alliance 'B' team have been busy.
Playing Weston Super Mare at Mendip they had a good win securing
12 points. Four days later they were off to Chipping Sodbury where
they won a further 8 points which gives the team 50 points at the
half way stage of the competition. Well done Girls!
At a recent NatWest Pensioners event at Taunton &
Pickeridge, remarkably there were two ‘holes in one’ within the
hour. Firstly John Radford of St Enedoc holed his tee shot at the
second, the first time this has happened at one of these events.
Then this was followed by our very own Tony Williams who holed his
at the 188 yard 10th. Drinks are on you Tony!
Mendip Professional Kevin Pitts found form again
last week at Carlyon Bay with a solid round of 74. This finished
in a tie for 6th place, only 2 strokes short of winning. The
Playing Professional then had a nice surprise with a late call up
to compete in The English PGA Championship at Goodwood at the end
of the Month. Both Kevin and John will be competing in the 54 hole
event with a prize fund of £30,000. Good Luck Boys!
